The PEI Roadrunners are pleased to announce Marisa McNeil as the 2022 Rookie of the Year.

Following a couple of surgeries and restricted to limited exercise for almost half a year, Marisa participated in many events in 2022. She completed events from February to November and from Souris to Summerside. Freeze Your Gizzard, Points East Relay, Harvest Festival, Desmond Baglole, Dunk River, Evermore and the PEI Mararthon Half among other events proved Marisa was up to any challenge.

Marisa had many personal bests throughout the year usually finishing with a big smile on her face. She finished 2nd in her age group and third female overall in the 2022 Points Series while achieving 10 top 10 finishes.

She also took on Race Director for Somerset Festival 5k in Kinkora. She had never organized a race before, and was able to meet all the requirements for it to become a Road Runners Points Race. The race was a huge success and she will be organizing it again this year.

She is a mother of 2 young girls, a wife, and works with Health PEI in Charlottetown, yet she always finds the time to get her runs in and never gives up.

Marisa is a great addition to the running community and we are happy to have her as a PEI Roadrunner.

Congratulations Marisa. We look forward to seeing you across the province again in 2023, and as we know, anyone who can complete Harvest Festival, can handle a full marathon so Marisa, we look forward to you tackling that in 2023.
