2022 Female Roadrunner of the Year: Bev Walsh
The PEI Roadrunner Executive is pleased to announce that Bev Walsh has been selected as our 2022 Female Roadrunner of the year. This is the second time Bev has been recognized, having previously won the award in 2008.
Bev continues to be one of our most active runners, participating in 12 point Series events. In addition Bev continues to run challenging races off PEI, including the Fredericton and Boston Marathons. We believe Bev has qualified for every Boston Marathon since 2005, including 2023.
In 2022 Bev had 11 top 4 Roadrunner finishes finishes, including being top Roadrunner in the Fulton Campbell and Dunk River Runs. Never intimidated by a tough course Bev finished as the 2nd Roadrunner in the Harvest Festival 25km, the 15km Desmond Baglole, the PEI Marathon and Remax 10km. For good measure she threw in a 3rd place Roadrunner finish in the 29.2km Points East Relay (except Bev doesn't do relays, its all or nothing).
Bev finished atop the Hashems Point Series standings again in 2022. We are not sure how often that has happened, however it is safe to say at least several pairs of Asics have been part of Bev's running gear.
Bev has made running a big part of her busy life. If there are no events on a Saturday, she seldom misses the 7:30 am start at the Rodd Charlottetown with her running friends in the Meacher Group.
Never one to be idle, Bev has taken on a part time position in the health sector after retiring last year and devotes many hours to her 5 young grandchildren.
Congratulations Bev. We wish you many more years of good health and good running.
